New York Giants’ Offensive Line Struggles Continue Despite Free Agency Additions: Can Evan Neal and Others Revive the Unit in 2024?

In the 2023 season, the New York Giants had a poor offensive line that allowed 85 sacks due to injuries and underperforming players. Evan Neal, John Michael Schmitz, and Andrew Thomas all struggled to live up to expectations, which contributed significantly to the line’s poor performance.

To improve their offensive line, general manager Joe Schoen made it a priority during free agency by adding Jon Runyan Jr., Jermaine Eluemunor, Matt Nelson, Austin Schlottmann, and Aaron Stinnie. Despite these additions, Pro Football Focus still ranks the Giants’ offensive line as one of the worst in the league.

The team is hopeful that the new additions will help bolster their line. Specifically, they are counting on Eluemunor and Runyan Jr. to bring more strength and stability to the unit. However, the success of the line still largely depends on players like Neal who may be on their last chance to prove themselves at their position.

As they prepare for the upcoming season, the Giants are aiming for a significant improvement on their offensive line compared to their struggles in 2023. Despite their efforts, however, they still face challenges in solidifying their line for the upcoming season.
