Wyll Stanway, a 23-year-old goalkeeper, has joined Barrow from non-league team Chester. The transfer fee has not been disclosed, but Stanway’s impressive performance with Chester last season is said to have attracted the attention of the higher clubs. In 46 appearances in the National League North, Stanway kept 19 clean sheets and helped his team secure a 10th place finish.
Stanway expressed his excitement at signing for his hometown club, stating that the process was quick but he is happy to have finalized the deal. He acknowledged the positive direction that the club is heading in and expressed his eagerness to be a part of it. Stanway’s initial contract with Barrow is for two years, with an option for an extension in the future.
Barrow’s manager is pleased with the acquisition of Stanway, who he believes will be a valuable addition to the team. He stated that Stanway’s experience and skills will help improve the team’s defense and give them an edge in tough games. With Stanway on board, Barrow is looking forward to another successful season in League One.
