Novant Health’s ‘Hospital at Home’ Program Brings Convenience and Comfort to Patients in Southeastern N.C.

Novant Health introduces innovative ‘Hospital at Home’ program

Novant Health’s “Hospital at Home” program, introduced in southeastern N.C. in April, offers patients the convenience of at-home care without the need for a hospital visit. Patients receive daily virtual visits from a physician and their care team monitors vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and oxygen levels. They also have 24/7 access to a registered nurse who coordinates their care from a hub located within the hospital.

The program’s success was discussed with WECT by representatives Christy Spivey and Jim Mistovich from Novant Health. Spivey mentioned that the care provided in the program is similar to what patients would receive in a hospital setting, but from the comfort of their own home – whether on a couch, recliner or beside loved ones and pets. Community paramedics from Novant Health also participate in the program by making home visits to assess patients twice daily.
