Nvidia Partners with Ooredoo to Deploy AI Technology in Middle East and Boost Telecommunications Industry

In a major partnership, Nvidia has announced its plans to deploy its artificial intelligence technology at data centers in five Middle Eastern countries through Qatari telecoms group Ooredoo. The deal will provide direct access to Nvidia’s AI and graphics processing technology for clients in Qatar, Algeria, Tunisia, Oman, Kuwait, and the Maldives.

According to Ooredoo CEO Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, the agreement allows the company to offer its customers cutting-edge services that may not be available to their competitors for another 18 to 24 months. This strategic move sets Ooredoo ahead of its competitors and positions them for long-term success in the telecommunications industry. The value of this deal was not disclosed by the companies.

As part of its future plans, Ooredoo is also investing US$1 billion to expand its regional data center capacity by adding 20-25 additional megawatts to the current 40 megawatts. By doing so, the company aims to increase its data center capacity even further by the end of the decade. This expansion is expected to position Ooredoo as a major player in the telecommunications industry and enable it to provide more advanced services to its customers.

In addition, Ooredoo is also considering carving out its undersea cables and fibre network into a separate entity as part of its future plans. This strategic restructuring aims to position the company for future growth and innovation in the ever-evolving telecommunications industry. With this move, Ooredoo can focus on providing cutting-edge services and solutions that meet the evolving needs of its customers and help them stay ahead of their competition.
