Billy Price, a former All-American and champion at Ohio State, announced his retirement on Saturday. The 29-year-old revealed that he had suffered a pulmonary embolism in April, which required emergency surgery to remove a saddle clot that was entering both his lungs. He thanked his wife for her unwavering love and support throughout his career and looked forward to navigating the next chapter of life with her.

Price was a standout player at Ohio State, where he won a national championship in 2014. He played offensive guard before transitioning to center for his senior season, earning unanimous All-America honors and winning the Rimington Trophy for the nation’s best center in 2017. This success led to Price being selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

After playing five seasons in the NFL with the Bengals, New York Giants, and Arizona Cardinals, as well as practice squad stints with the Raiders, Saints, and Cowboys, Price spent most of last season on the Cowboys’ practice squad after being released by the Saints. Despite his abrupt retirement
