The French government has recently announced plans to offer additional bonuses of up to 1,500 euros to various categories of civil servants working on the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. This temporary increase in bonuses and allowances is intended to compensate agents who are directly involved in the games or experience a significant increase in activity due to changes in service organization related to the games.
In March, the government announced that bonuses ranging from 500 to 1,500 euros would be granted depending on the impact of the Games on service activity and leave-taking. These bonuses are part of a range of support measures planned during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, including increased teleworking. Nearly 100,000 public employees will be directly involved in the Olympics, according to Minister of Civil Service Stanislas Guerini.
The texts issued by the government cover a wide range of civil servants, particularly those in the State civil service, who will receive a “JO bonus” based on an existing system of bonuses and allowances with increased maximum amounts for 2024. Law enforcement officers, including police officers and gendarmes working in Île-de-France, will receive a confirmed “JO bonus” of 1,900 euros. This bonus was previously announced in January and was reaffirmed in a letter co-signed by Prime Minister Gabriel Attal and Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.
