The Philadelphia Phillies have suffered two blows in one game, as both star players Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber were placed on the injured list due to injuries that occurred during a game-ending groundout. Harper limped off the field in discomfort after straining his hamstring, while Schwarber exited with groin tightness. While the strain is considered low-grade, Harper may potentially return when eligible on July 9, although the team could decide to give him more time to recover through the All-Star break. Schwarber’s injury is less severe and is expected to return after 10 days.
Manager Rob Thomson indicated that Harper’s injury status would be reassessed on Friday, while Schwarber’s injury was attributed to an off-balance throw from the outfield. Despite these setbacks, both Harper and Schwarber have been performing well for the Phillies this season. Harper has been a standout player and currently leads the NL in All-Star voting for the first base position. The team is hopeful that both players will be back in action soon to continue their strong performances on the field.
