Pidcock Readies for Paris Olympics with UCI MTB World Cup Round and Tour de France Journey

Tom Pidcock, the reigning mountain bike World and Olympic Champion, has announced that he will be participating in an additional UCI MTB World Cup race in preparation for the Paris Olympics. He will compete in the Crans Montana round on June 23, just a few days before he begins his Tour de France journey in Florence on June 29.

In an exclusive interview with Cycling Weekly, Pidcock discussed how he is managing his training to ensure that he is prepared for both the Tour de France and the mountain bike competitions. While focusing more on endurance and volume for the Tour de France, he also recognizes the importance of maintaining his off-road skills.

Pidcock’s racing schedule has been limited this year, with only a few cyclocross events and no participation in the UCI Cyclocross World Championships. However, despite this setback, he still managed to secure a victory at the Supercup Massi La Nuca mountain bike race in February. His spring campaign was briefly interrupted by a crash before he won the Amstel Gold Race and then took a break from road racing.

Pidcock’s approach to balancing road and mountain bike races is similar to his strategy leading up to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where he won a gold medal. Now, as he prepares for another major international event, Pidcock is determined to continue his success on both disciplines.
