Political Scandal: Agde Mayor’s Involvement with Local Fortune Teller Raises Concerns

Mayor Spends Public Funds on Fortune Teller Believing Contact with Deceased Father

The city of Agde, located on the Mediterranean coast, recently found itself embroiled in a scandal involving Mayor Gilles d’Ettore and local fortune teller Sophia Martinez. As reported by the BBC, D’Ettore, a former police officer, became the subject of an investigation due to his involvement with Martinez. Over four years, Martinez manipulated D’Ettore both in person and over the phone, claiming to communicate with his late father during seances. In return, she received luxurious vacations to Polynesia and Thailand as well as a free home renovation from local business owners.

The scandal has shocked locals, with many believing that money and sex played a role in the unfolding events. D’Ettore’s lawyer, Jean Marc Darrigade, expressed his disbelief at the mayor’s susceptibility to manipulation. Both D’Ettore and Martinez are currently in custody, with Martinez even being placed in solitary confinement after an attack in prison. The scandal has captivated the community and raised questions about power dynamics and personal relationships.
