Oregon hospital and Samaritan Health Services discuss potential merger

Santiam Hospitals and Clinics, based in Stayton, Oregon, have recently entered into a nonbinding letter of intent with Samaritan Health Services, located in Corvallis, Oregon. The goal of this agreement is to explore the possibility of a merger between the two organizations.

The primary objectives of the merger are to enhance local access to healthcare services, promote health equity, and expand community resources. Both organizations are committed to preserving existing staff members and maintaining local governance and leadership structures throughout the transition process.

Santiam Hospital and Clinics is a nonprofit entity that operates an acute care hospital and 11 clinics, employing over 600 individuals. Samaritan Health Services is also a nonprofit organization that operates five community hospitals, more than 100 physician clinics, and various health insurance plans. With 6,000 employees, including 620 physicians, Samaritan Health Services has a strong presence in the region’s healthcare industry.

Over the next several months, Santiam Hospitals and Clinics and Samaritan Health Services will work towards finalizing a definitive agreement. However, it’s important to note that the merger may be subject to regulatory approval before it can be officially completed.
