Preparing for the End: Operation Menia Bridge and King Charles’ Cancer Diagnosis

In the wake of King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, funeral plans for the 75-year-old monarch are being updated. According to The Daily Beast, a friend of the king gave a somber update on his health, stating that he is “very unwell.” Another source confirmed this update and revealed that the funeral plans have been dusted off and are currently being kept up to date. Given the king’s diagnosis with cancer, it is no surprise that there is a focus on preparing for his inevitable death.

However, a second insider close to a senior official involved in the planning of royal funerals reassured the public that the approach being taken is customary. They claimed that the planning for Operation Menai Bridge (the code name for the king’s death) is a job that is taken very seriously and understandably, no one wants to get caught out. The queen’s funeral went like clockwork and set a high bar for future royal funerals.

For those who may be unfamiliar with Operation Menia Bridge, it refers to a dramatic suspension bridge that connects the island of Anglesey with the Welsh mainland. Charles was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February, just days after undergoing surgery for treatment of his enlarged prostate.
