Qatar Airways in discussions to buy planes from Airbus and Boeing

On Monday, Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer announced that the airline is in talks with Airbus and Boeing regarding a significant order for wide-body aircraft. Al Meer confirmed that reports about potential purchases of Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X aircraft are largely accurate. According to Bloomberg News, Qatar Airways is nearing a decision on a sizable order for wide-body aircraft from both manufacturers, potentially totaling around 200 aircraft. The company is considering a mix of Airbus A350s and Boeing 777X models and may announce their decision at the Farnborough Air Show in Britain next month.

In addition to the aircraft order talks, Al Meer also mentioned that Qatar Airways is engaging with the Australian government to further expand flight operations in the country. Despite a previous rejection of the airline’s request to operate additional routes to Australia, Al Meer remains optimistic about ongoing positive discussions with Australian authorities. He expressed hope for favorable news in the coming months and emphasized the airline’s eagerness to grow and enhance its presence in the Australian market.
