Qatar Fund for Development and WHO Partner to Enhance Global Health Efforts with $4 Million Contribution

Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have recently signed a Core Contribution Agreement to support the implementation of the extended 13th WHO Programme of Work. The agreement involves a $4 million contribution from the State of Qatar to WHO, through QFFD, with the aim of enhancing the Organization’s efforts in addressing global health challenges. This partnership highlights the unwavering commitment of the State of Qatar and QFFD to improving health outcomes and promoting sustainable development goals worldwide.

“Our partnership with WHO demonstrates our dedication to ensuring health equity for all worldwide,” said Mr. Sultan Ahmed Al-Aseeri, Acting Director-General of QFFD. “By supporting WHO, we aim to empower communities, improve healthcare access, and contribute to a healthier future for all.” Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of WHO, expressed gratitude for the flexible funds provided by long-standing partners like the Qatar Fund for Development. These funds enable WHO to quickly respond to global health needs as they arise, carrying out its mission and mandate effectively.

The extended 13th WHO Programme of Work (GWP13) focuses on addressing communicable and non-communicable diseases, strengthening health systems, and promoting health through the life course. The collaboration between QFFD and WHO will emphasize supporting countries in crisis and post-crisis contexts, aligning with the mission of the State of Qatar and QFFD to provide critical aid where it is most needed. As the world faces ongoing health challenges, this partnership serves as a beacon of hope and a model for international cooperation in global health.
