Parliament’s Impressive Decrees and Confidences Leading Up to the Holidays

The summer break is fast approaching, and the Chamber of Deputies and Senate have about 30 days, or 33 sessions considering Fridays, to approve all pending measures before closing for the summer. This tight timeframe includes several decrees that must be converted into law by early August to avoid expiration. The parliamentary work is set to end between 8 and 9 August, and the two branches of Parliament are gearing up for a busy month ahead.

In preparation for this hectic schedule, group leaders from both the House and Senate have met to create a work agenda for July. The focus of their discussions is on approving expiring decrees and other priority measures before the break. Measures such as the Nordio bill on abuse of office and the Cohesion decree are up for discussion and approval in the coming weeks. The government and majority are prepared to use votes of confidence to lock down these measures and ensure timely conversion into law.

Both chambers are working at a tight pace, with several decrees scheduled for approval before the break.
