Race to Omaha: How College Baseball Teams are Preparing for the 2024 NCAA Tournament and Chasing Glory

When and Where is the 2024 College World Series? A Look at the Schedule and History Leading up to Omaha

As the 2024 NCAA baseball tournament approaches, college teams across the country are preparing for a chance to make it to Omaha and compete in the College World Series. With the top-ranked team being Tennessee, which has been at the top of the USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll throughout most of the season, many teams are hoping to upset them and claim their own spot in the championship series.

On Monday, the field of 64 teams will be announced, with the top 16 schools hosting regionals from May 31 to June 3. The winners of these regionals will then move on to super regionals from June 7-9 and June 8-10, where they will determine who will be among the elite eight schools heading to Omaha for the College World Series.

The NCAA Division I baseball tournament is known for its surprises and upsets, as well as its intense competition. In 2023, LSU emerged victorious in the College World Series final by defeating Florida 18-4. Pitcher Paul Skenes was named the tournament’s most outstanding player, and outfielder Dylan Crews made history by reaching base in all 71 of LSU’s games that season. Both players were later selected first and second overall in the MLB draft, marking a significant milestone for their respective programs.

As teams prepare for this year’s tournament, they know that anything can happen on any given day. But with determination and hard work, one team will emerge victorious and earn a place in baseball history as champions of Omaha.
