Rangers Activate Max Scherzer for Sunday’s Game Against the Royals, Improving Rotation Stability and Boosting Chances of Success

Max Scherzer activated from injured list by Rangers, set to start against Royals on Sunday

The Texas Rangers have activated pitcher Max Scherzer from the injured list, and he is set to start Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Royals. After experiencing a setback during a rehab assignment in April, Scherzer was diagnosed with a nerve issue that affected his right forearm and triceps. However, he has since made two more rehab starts in June, performing well in his final appearance with eight strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.

Scherzer, who is approaching his 40th birthday, has not pitched yet this season as he recovered from offseason surgery for a herniated disc. His last appearance for the Rangers was in Game 3 of the World Series last season, where he had to leave the game due to back tightness. In order to make room for Scherzer on the 26-man roster, right-hander Yerry Rodriguez was sent down to Triple-A Round Rock.

Manager Bruce Bochy expressed confidence in Scherzer’s return, emphasizing that Scherzer is feeling good and ready to pitch. There will be no pitch count for Scherzer on Sunday, and they will monitor his performance inning by inning. The addition of Scherzer will provide much-needed stability to the team’s starting rotation, which has been plagued by injuries this season. With pitchers like Eovaldi, Dunning, and Bradford dealing with various health issues, the addition of Scherzer will give the team a boost and improve their chances of success going forward.

Overall, the Rangers are optimistic about Scherzer’s return and his ability to make a positive impact on the team going forward.
