The Texas Rangers celebrated their historic World Series win by handing out championship rings to approximately 60 members of the organization before their game against the Chicago Cubs. The ring ceremony marked the franchise’s first World Series victory, which was achieved in a six-game triumph over the Arizona Diamondbacks last fall.
Chris Young, the Rangers’ lead baseball executive, unveiled the design of the championship rings during a team dinner the night before the ceremony. The rings were created by Jason of Beverly Hills and feature a combination of blue sapphires, red rubies, and diamonds, laid out in the shape of the Rangers’ “T” logo. The design also includes 103 blue sapphires to represent the team’s total victories during the regular season and playoffs, as well as a removable top that contains a piece of leather from a baseball used in the World Series.
Players like second baseman Marcus Semien expressed emotional reactions upon seeing the championship rings, acknowledging the hard work and effort put in on the field. Manager Bruce Bochy, who has now won four World Series rings in his career, praised the ring design as a new standard in championship rings. He even jokingly mentioned possibly trying to wear all four rings on one finger at some point.
