Redwood High Alumnus Audrey MacLean Secures Fourth Place in National Steeplechase Championships

Audrey MacLean, a former standout at Redwood High in Tiburon, recently placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the USA Track & Field under-20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon. As a freshman running for Middlebury College, MacLean finished with a time of 10 minutes and 36.95 seconds, marking her fourth consecutive race finishing in under 10:40. Her outstanding performances throughout the season earned her the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Rookie of the Year honors in both track and cross country. MacLean also secured conference titles in the steeplechase and the 5,000 meters during the league campaign this spring.

During her time at Redwood, MacLean was a top distance runner in the county, finishing second in the 1,600 and 3,200 during her senior season in 2023. She also won the MCAL cross country title as a junior and finished second as a senior. Notably, MacLean placed sixth in the 2023 Dipsea Race.

In baseball news, the San Rafael Pacifics kicked off their homestand with three consecutive victories over their rivals from Dublin Leprechauns on Friday night and then secured an impressive victory on Saturday with a score of 11-6. The Pacifics played exceptionally well throughout their games with a record of 15-4. They amassed an impressive total of hits with twelve hits drawn ten walks while taking advantage of three errors to score an incredible number of runs – nineteen to be precise.

The team’s catcher Beau Dorman reached base every time he stepped up to bat with four hits and two walks before scoring three times. Aki Buckson hit two home runs while Braxton King led his teammates with four RBIs.

The Pacifics were scheduled to play against Marysville on Sunday before heading out for a Monday night game against Vallejo for their next game.

Overall Maclean’s impressive performance is definitely something worth looking forward to as she continues to make strides towards becoming one of America’s top young runners while Pacifics continue their excellent run form on
