Reno Air Races: Boosting the Local Economy with Over $150 Million in Revenue and Fueling Reno’s Aviation Heritage

Recent Reno Air Races contributed $150 million to the local economy

The Reno Air Races had a significant impact on the local economy, generating over $150 million in revenue, according to the Reno Air Racing Association. A study conducted by UNR’s Center for Regional Studies revealed that there were 80,434 nonlocal attendees at the event, contributing to a total economic impact of $158,641,993 for northern Nevada. In total, the Reno Air Races saw 113,230 unique attendees.

Tony Logoteta, COO of the Reno Air Racing Association expressed pride in the positive impact the event has had on the region over the past six decades. He highlighted the importance of strengthening the community and expressed gratitude for the support of fans that contributed to the economic benefit for Reno.

Brian Bonnenfant, project manager for the Center for Regional Studies emphasized the significant economic impact of the National Championship Air Races, noting that it consistently outperformed other special events held in Reno-Sparks. The event played a key role in local tourism economy and provided exposure to region while promoting aviation and aeronautics to future generations.

The National Championship Air Races will be relocating to Roswell in 2025.
