The 21st annual Waterton-Glacier Science and History Day will take place on Tuesday, July 23, from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Community Building on Albright Circle in West Glacier, MT. This event, hosted by Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, is free of charge and open to the public. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from scientists and historians about current research and historical topics related to the park, providing unique insights and the latest findings.
This year marks the first in-person event since 2019, and attendees from Canada are reminded to bring a passport for crossing the U.S./Canada border. A detailed agenda for the event is available online for those interested in learning more about the day’s activities.
Presentations at the event will be grouped into four themes: wildlife, visitor use management, co-stewardship, and cultural and historical resources. Topics will range from efforts to vaccinate bats in Glacier for White-Nose Syndrome to the history of Glacier’s iconic red buses.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch to enjoy during the one-hour break and no registration is necessary for the event.
This event has been held annually since 2004, alternating locations between Glacier and Waterton parks, with the previous four years held virtually.
Participants will have access to unique insights about current research and historical topics related to Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park through presentations grouped into four themes: wildlife, visitor use management, co-stewardship, and cultural and historical resources.

This year marks a return of in-person events after two virtual ones due to Covid restrictions.
