Revolution in the making: Resistor adaptation of Influx with Will Smith in the lead

Will Smith will uncover some surprising secrets about technology in “Resistor”

Daniel Suarez’s novel Influx is being adapted into a movie called Resistor, with Will Smith set to star. The project has been in development for some time now and has seen two drafts of the script written by Zak Olkewicz and Eric Singer. While S.F. Wilson was originally attached to direct, the film currently does not have a director.

The plot of Resistor revolves around physicist Jon Grady and his team who have discovered a device that can reflect gravity, a breakthrough that could change the future of physics. However, their lab is locked down by a covert organization known as the Bureau of Technology Control, whose mission is to suppress the truth of technological progress to prevent social upheaval.

When Grady refuses to join the BTC, he is imprisoned with other rebel intellects. As the only hope to lead humanity out of its artificial dark age, Grady and his fellow prisoners must expose the secrets of their technologically advanced enemy. The release date for Resistor is yet to be announced but promises a high-tech thriller with themes of power, control, and rebellion.
