Revolutionizing Healthcare: Englewood Health Earns Top Rating for Electronic Medical Record Use

Englewood Health has recently been recognized as the highest-rated health system in New Jersey after achieving a Stage 6 designation from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM). This accolade highlights the system’s advanced clinical use of electronic medical records at both Englewood Hospital and within the Englewood Health Physician Network.

The EMRAM ranking is a maturity model assessment that evaluates clinical outcomes, patient engagement, and the use of EMR technology to improve organizational performance and health outcomes for patients. With eight stages ranging from 0 to 7, HIMSS EMRAM provides a roadmap for health systems to reach expert-level EMR usage.

Inderpal Kohli, Chief Information Officer at Englewood Health, stated that achieving Stage 6 demonstrates the health system’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology into clinical processes to enhance patient outcomes. This accomplishment reflects Englewood Health’s dedication to delivering exceptional patient care through the strategic deployment of advanced EMR capabilities across the entire healthcare system.

In order to reach Stage 6, Englewood Health has implemented advanced EMR capabilities in patient care service areas, such as full physician documentation integrated into the EMR and computerized physician order entry for all services. The health system also uses closed-loop medication administration to prevent errors, as well as advanced clinical decision-making support and evidence-based protocols.

Additionally, as a Stage 6 organization, Englewood Health has achieved advanced interchange and wearable device integration. In specialty areas, patients in the Englewood Health Physician Network can use wearable devices or implants supported by remote monitoring, enabling remote patient care. This high level of EMR usage showcases Englewood Health’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve patient care and outcomes.
