Kansas City-based Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute has teamed up with virtual specialty care company Story Health to develop an atrial fibrillation (AFib) program for its patients. The program, set to launch in the near future, will offer various features to enhance treatment, such as lifestyle recommendations, medication monitoring, and identifying potential candidates for procedures like ablation.
In addition to these services, California-based Story Health coaches will be accessible to patients in between appointments, and the platform will gather health data to be integrated into the health system’s electronic health record (EHR) for clinical decision support. This collaborative effort aims to empower clinicians to provide top-level care while maximizing their impact on patient outcomes.
Last year, Story Health teamed up with West Virginia University’s Heart and Vascular Institute to offer similar support services for patient monitoring and engagement. The company also partnered with Intermountain Health to provide EHR technology to assist providers in managing heart failure patients outside of traditional clinical settings. In 2022, Story Health secured $22.6 million in Series A funding to further enhance their offerings.
The heart health sector is seeing advancements from various companies, including digital health startups like Eko Health and CardioSignal, as well as established platforms like CardioOne by Redesign Health and Ultromics, which offers an AI-driven cardiac decision support tool. These advancements reflect the growing importance of technology in improving heart care delivery and patient outcomes.
