In a thrilling twist of fate, a British tech startup named Invisibility Shield Co. has created a revolutionary technology that produces an eerie blur, reminiscent of objects obscured behind frosted glass. The company’s flagship product is a towering 6-foot-tall “Megashield” that sells for $828 and promises to make multiple people invisible. These shields are meticulously engineered using ultra-large, precision-engineered lens arrays that redirect light reflecting off individuals behind them away from the observer.
By ingeniously manipulating background light and channeling it towards viewers, these shields create the illusion of objects behind them disappearing. While not achieving perfect invisibility, these shields boast impressive features such as being waterproof, power source-free, and eco-friendly, as they are constructed from recyclable materials. Invisibility Shield designer Tristan Thompson stated that the shields are not only groundbreaking but also enjoyable to use and create.
In 2022, Invisibility Shield Co. launched with a 3-foot-tall shield priced at $354 and an 8-inch tall version sold for $54. The company successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter with a goal of “turning science fiction into reality,” raising $6,600 from backers. They aim to deliver the product by the end of the year. The latest version of their invisibility shield can hide multiple people, stand on its own, and be packed down to just 2.3 inches in thickness – making it effortless for users to carry wherever they want to disappear.
Thompson shared the company’s ambition to push the limits of this technology and create an invisibility shield that is portable yet functional. The success of Invisibility Shield Co., born out of an imaginative concept transformed into a tangible product, serves as proof that anything is possible when creativity meets innovation.
