Revolutionizing the Work Experience: IKEA Launches New Game on Roblox

IKEA introduces ‘The Co-Worker Game’ on Roblox: virtual job experience

IKEA, the renowned Swedish furniture company, is set to revolutionize the work experience with the launch of its new game “The Co-Worker Game” on Roblox on June 24. This innovative initiative not only represents IKEA’s first foray into mainstream gaming but also introduces a new virtual career concept within its digital universe.

In this game, players will be immersed in the IKEA philosophy of non-linear career paths and cross-departmental movement. The goal is to provide a realistic simulation of the IKEA work environment, allowing players to try out different tasks, develop professionally within the game, and progress just as they would in real life.

With only five days remaining until June 16, 2024, IKEA is currently accepting applications for 10 paid positions within the game. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to assist customers, hone their skills and advance through the ranks by exploring different departments and taking on additional responsibilities. Virtual interviews for successful applicants will be conducted between June 14 and 18, 2024 and each paid player will receive an hourly wage based on IKEA’s standard rates.

Aside from paid roles, “The Co-Worker Game” offers all players free access to explore the virtual IKEA world. Users can visit iconic Swedish food market and IKEA bistro, serve meatballs or browse various exhibition rooms while organizing space using IKEA products. This not only enhances the gaming experience but also allows players to unlock exclusive user-generated content (UGC).

Darren Taylor, Country People and Culture Manager for IKEA UK and Ireland said about this initiative: “We’re excited to introduce paid roles on Roblox that showcase how we approach careers differently at IKEA. Our people have complete freedom over their career paths; they can move between roles and departments as they see fit both within the game and in real life.”
