Risant Health, a nonprofit, charitable organization created by Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, has announced the acquisition of Cone Health, a large healthcare network in the Piedmont Triad. The deal is pending regulatory approvals and Cone Health has signed a “definitive agreement” with Risant Health to become a part of it.
The CEO of Risant Health, Dr. Jaewon Ryu, JD, praised Cone Health for its impressive work in moving value-based care forward. He expressed that Cone Health’s longstanding success and commitment to providing high-quality care to North Carolina communities align well with Risant Health’s vision for the future of healthcare.
Cone Health is a healthcare network that employs over 13,000 people and serves more than 200,000 patients in the Piedmont Triad. The CEO and president of Cone Health, Dr. Mary Jo Cagle, stated that becoming a part of Risant Health presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of healthcare in the Triad and beyond. Despite the acquisition, Cone Health’s branding will remain the same and its leadership team will continue to operate independently.
Overall, this merger aims to provide more access to value-based care to communities in North Carolina. By combining their expertise and resources, both organizations hope to benefit patients across the state and nationally.
