Risky Rescue: HGSS Students Help in Plane Crash Recovery Efforts

HGSS plane crash: Pictures of the overturned wreckage found in the woods

On the evening of June 20th, the HGSS Station Samobor team arrived at the site of a plane crash in Stupni’ki Obrezcaron, Micani Street. As they approached, they found that the police, DVD Stupnik firefighters, and emergency workers were already on hand to assist with the rescue operation.

The aircraft had crashed heavily in the dense forest, making it difficult to locate from a distance. Pavelić Damir, an HGSS student from Samobor who was among the first responders at the scene, described the challenging terrain as “a maze of trees and underbrush.” Despite this obstacle, he quickly set to work alongside his fellow emergency services personnel to triage the injured and provide first aid.

Fortunately, all victims were able to be rescued by emergency medical aid workers and transported to hospitals via helicopter. However, recovery efforts for one deceased victim proved more difficult due to the remote location of the crash site. The body was eventually located and retrieved by a team of specialized recovery personnel working closely with HGSS teams from Samobor, Zagreb
