Scottish Premiership fans in for a treat as live broadcasts set to increase next season

Scottish Premiership fans will have more live broadcasts to look forward to next season, thanks to a new agreement between Premier Sports and the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL). Premier Sports, which already showcases live Scottish Cup and League Cup games, has acquired the rights to broadcast an additional 20 SPFL matches for the next five years. This means that alongside Sky Sports, who currently air up to 60 games each season under a deal until 2029, Premier Sports will now share live rights to the SPFL matches.

The BBC holds the contract to broadcast Scottish Championship and League 1 games on free-to-air platforms, as well as live radio coverage and highlights of the Premiership matches. SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster has expressed his excitement over the new agreement, stating that it is “tremendous news for SPFL clubs and supporters alike”. With up to 80 Premiership matches set to be broadcast live next season across both Sky Sports and Premier Sports, this will mark the highest number of live matches ever shown from the Scottish Premiership.

Fans can now look forward to a wider range of televised SPFL games to enjoy, ensuring that they never have to miss out on the action.
