On Sundays, the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) is offering a unique sensory-friendly exploration session for individuals on the autism spectrum. The session will be followed by an IMAX film showing at 12:30 p.m., with theater lights turned up and sound lowered to cater to attendees’ needs. All films will be shown in 2D and no trailers will be shown before the movie. Guests are encouraged to move around, sing, walk, dance, and shout without any restrictions or complaints. Families are welcome to bring their own snacks, blankets, and other small comfort items for the session.
During this special event, guests can participate in various sensory-based activities throughout the Museum. Children will have the opportunity to engage in social interactions and work on improving their processing, modulation, and regulation of sensory input for increased participation in a natural environment. This unique experience allows attendees to explore South Florida’s award-winning attraction, which features 150,000 square feet of dynamic science exhibits, an outdoor science park, a live animal collection, science shows, learning labs, a café, store, and a grand atrium with the Great Gravity Clock.
