Shakib Al Hasan Criticizes Bangladesh’s Lack of Fighting Spirit in T20 World Cup Loss to India

Shakib criticizes Bangladesh’s lack of resilience at T20 World Cup

Shakib Al Hasan, a veteran all-rounder from Bangladesh, has criticized the team’s lack of fighting spirit following their 50-run loss to India in the T20 World Cup. This defeat marked their second loss in the Super Eights after an initial defeat to Australia. In an interview, Shakib expressed disappointment in the team’s performance and their inability to show resilience in the match.

Bangladesh struggled with making runs throughout the tournament, with Towhid Hridoy being their top run-getter with 139 runs in six innings. In the chase for 197 runs to win against India, Bangladesh could only manage 146-8 in their 20 overs, with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto scoring the highest with 40 runs. Shakib, who scored an unbeaten 64 in the first round victory against the Netherlands, highlighted the visible gap between Bangladesh and top contenders in world cricket.

Despite his long and successful international career, Shakib remains unsure about when Bangladesh will win a world title. The 37-year-old has played in 67 Tests and 247 one-dayers, accumulating more than 19,500 runs and over 700 wickets. He emphasized the importance of enjoying playing for the team and stated that he will only continue as long as he feels desired and valued by the team.
