Shanghai Archery World Cup: India and Italy Square Off for Women’s Gold, Dutch Men Surprise in Underdog Win

The Indian archery team, led by reigning under-18 and senior World Champion Aditi Swami, is excited to be competing in the Shanghai Archery World Cup. Swami is hopeful that the team can replicate their success from the World Cup in Paris last year, where both the Indian men and women secured team gold medals.

However, the squad is currently without their coach, Sergio Pagni, who was instrumental in many of their successes last season. Pagni is currently attending a camp in India. In the final, the Indian women’s team will be facing Italy, who advanced after a semifinal shoot-off victory against Kazakhstan when the scores were tied at 227 points in regulation.

Meanwhile, the Dutch men’s team, seeded 10th, also emerged victorious in a tiebreak against France to secure a spot in the final. Their perfect X-ring 10s were contrasted against their opponents’ standard 10s, ultimately helping them survive the match. World number one Mike Schloesser expressed his surprise and happiness with the outcome, especially since they entered the bracket as underdogs.

During the session, Kazakhstan’s women’s team and the Korean men’s team both secured bronze medals. The competition in Shanghai will resume in the afternoon with recurve qualifying rounds.
