Near Seoul City Hall in South Korea, a tragic event unfolded when a vehicle ran over a group of people at an intersection. Nine individuals were killed and four others were injured. The Police and Fire Department confirmed that six victims died at the scene, while the other three succumbed to their injuries after suffering cardiac arrest upon arrival at the hospital.
One of the injured is in critical condition, while the other three have minor injuries. All of them have been transported to the nearest hospital in Jung Gu district for medical attention. Eyewitnesses disclosed that a car leaving a nearby hotel veered in the opposite direction and collided with two other vehicles before plowing through the crosswalk and striking several pedestrians.
Law enforcement authorities apprehended the 68-year-old driver of the vehicle, along with his 60-year-old female companion, and both were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Alcohol intoxication was ruled out as a factor, and an investigation into the accident’s causes is underway. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. local time on Monday, prompting a swift response from emergency services, which dispatched nearly 40 vehicles and 140 personnel to the scene to aid the victims and clear the area of accident debris.
