SLB Awarded $9 Million in Damages for Monoline™ Fracturing Fluid Delivery Technology Patents: SLB Remains Dedicated to Innovation and Intellectual Property Protection

SLB wins in legal battle over frac technology patent against Nitro Fluids, awarded $9 million in compensation

On March 27, 2024, a jury took just two hours to reach a verdict in the trial of SLB Monoline™ fracturing fluid delivery technology patents (US Patents 9,932,800 and 10,385,645). The jury found that Nitro Fluids LLC had infringed on both patents willfully. As a result, SLB (Cameron International Corporation) was awarded nearly $9 million in past damages based on reasonable royalty and lost profits. The finding of willful infringement could potentially triple the jury award, resulting in damages of up to $27 million.

Badri Mani, SLB’s surface production business line director, expressed satisfaction with the verdict. He stated that “SLB will continue to invest in new and existing technologies to drive safety and efficiency in the industry. We are committed to protecting our technology investment.” This investment includes a range of fracturing fluid delivery system portfolios such as Monoline™ and Monoflex™ technologies. These patented technologies have enhanced safety and efficiency in customer operations and have become the industry standard for fracturing applications.

While SLB has other court cases pending to protect its Monoline™ patent rights, the company is open to considering requests for licensing its Monoline™ and Monoflex™ technologies patent portfolios. The company remains dedicated to innovation and ensuring the protection of its intellectual property rights. Image source: SLB
