Slovak Prime Minister Shares Recovery Progress, Slams Opposition and Western Media in Post-Shooting Video.

Slovak Prime Minister Fico Hopes to Return to Work in July, Addresses the Nation in Video Message

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has made a public appearance for the first time since being shot. In a video posted on Facebook, he updates his followers on his recovery progress and hopes to return to work by the end of June or early July if all goes well. Fico reflects on the attack that occurred on May 15, where an opposition activist attempted to take his life in Handlová. He expresses gratitude to the doctors who treated him and mentions that he has been receiving treatment at home since last week.

Following the attack, police arrested a 71-year-old man suspected of attempted murder. Fico surprises many by forgiving the shooter and choosing not to press charges, calling him a “messenger of evil and political hatred.” He attributes the attack to the aggressive incitement by the opposition against him and criticizes the media, particularly those he believes are influenced by Hungarian billionaire George Soros.

In addition to discussing his recovery, Fico also uses the video to voice his opinions on various political issues. He criticizes the West and the European Union for trying to impose their beliefs on other countries. He discusses his stance on the war in Ukraine, emphasizing that he has promised not to send any more ammunition to the conflict. According to Fico, the opposition and the West are working together to prolong the war and view China and Russia as “arch enemies.”

Fico feels that he has been demonized in both media coverage and opposition attacks due to his differing views. He calls on opposing parties
