Solar Energy Becoming More Accessible as Collaborative Group Offers Free Webinars; Volvo Plans to Establish New Truck Plant in Mexico

Solar energy is becoming more accessible to homes and businesses as a collaborative group is offering free webinars, including one on May 15. The solar energy process begins with registration and a free assessment, followed by a proposal from vetted installers. Congress has established a federal income tax credit of 30% of covered installation costs for the coming years. In addition, the city of Roanoke offers additional incentives for solar energy.

Volvo, a Swedish automotive company, has announced plans to establish its new truck plant in Mexico. This follows in the footsteps of other manufacturers like Freightliner, International Truck, and Kenworth, who already manufacture tens of thousands of trucks a year in the region. According to a report in SteelOrbis, these manufacturers produced 10,383, 5,679, and 1,560 trucks respectively in March. When asked why Volvo did not produce in Mexico sooner, spokesman John Mies mentioned that the company had been focusing on expanding and upgrading existing plants. Now, the company sees the need for additional growth in the region and Mexico provides the necessary benefits for this expansion. Volvo has not disclosed the location or cost of the proposed plant at this time.
