Speed Skating World Cup Heads to Milwaukee’s Pettit National Ice Center in 2025: Homecoming for Jordan Stolz and Olympic Dreams

In an exciting announcement, the International Skating Union (ISU) has chosen Milwaukee’s Pettit National Ice Center to host the Long Track Speed Skating World Cup from January 31 to February 2, 2025. This event will be the fourth stop of the World Cup season series and will take place just one year before the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Paul Golomski, General Manager of Pettit National Ice Center, expressed his excitement about hosting this prestigious event. “It has been nearly 20 years since we last hosted a World Cup in Milwaukee. We are thrilled for this opportunity to bring together some of the world’s best speed skaters and give our community a chance to witness the action up close.”

For Jordan Stolz and his coach, Bob Corby, this event is especially important. Stolz will have the opportunity to compete at his home rink in front of hometown supporters, while also showcasing his skills to potential Olympic teammates. Corby emphasized that this event will not only benefit Stolz but also inspire future generations of speed skaters in Milwaukee and beyond.

The Pettit National Ice Center first opened in 1992 and has hosted major events like the U.S. Olympic Speed Skating Trials in recent years. This upcoming World Cup will provide a unique chance for fans to see some of the fastest skaters in the world compete in races like the 500 meters, 1,000 meters, and 1,500 meters for both men and women as well as mass start races, team pursuit, and team sprints.
