Standing in Solidarity: Thousands Protest Against Gaza Strikes and Pay Tribute to Clément Méric in Paris

Parisian Demonstrators Rally in Support of Palestinians, Kanaks, and in Remembrance of Clément Méric

Thousands of people gathered in Paris to protest against the ongoing strikes in Rafah and pay tribute to Clément Méric, an anti-fascist activist who was killed ten years ago. The demonstration, which began at Place de la République behind a banner that read “For Clément, let’s continue the fight,” brought together various groups and individuals united in their desire to speak out against oppression.

Protesters also condemned Israeli bombings on Gaza and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people. Signs at the protest displayed messages such as “Stop the genocide in Rafah” and “Free Palestine.” The demonstration served as a reminder that people around the world are watching and standing in solidarity with those who are suffering injustices.

The protests were part of a larger wave of gatherings taking place across France in support of Gaza, where the Israeli army has been carrying out airstrikes. People are demanding an end to the violence and calling for justice for the Palestinian people. In addition to Paris, several thousand pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered in Lyon at Place Bellecour, with similar gatherings planned in other cities like Toulouse and Lille.

As Rafah continues to be bombarded by airstrikes and artillery fire despite calls for a ceasefire from world leaders, these protests serve as a powerful message that people will not stand idly by while oppression continues to occur.
