Steelers Add Running Back Jonathan Ward to Boost Their Rushing Game for 2023 Season

Pittsburgh Steelers Add Running Back Jonathan Ward to Roster

The Steelers have signed running back Jonathan Ward to their 90-man roster after he tried out for the team during their rookie minicamp. Ward received a one-year contract, and no other terms have been announced yet. Last season, Ward played in seven games for the Titans and rushed three times for 11 yards while mostly contributing on special teams. He spent the first two NFL seasons with the Cardinals before splitting the 2022 season between Tennessee and Arizona.

With the addition of Ward to their roster, the Steelers are looking to strengthen their running game for the upcoming season. The top two returning backs in Pittsburgh are Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. Cordarrelle Patterson was also signed as a free agent to add depth to the backfield. As competition in the backfield heats up, it will be exciting to see how Ward fits in with the team and what contributions he will make on the field alongside Harris, Warren, and Patterson.
