Sweetening Health: Good Samaritan Health Clinic Hosts Diabetes Expo in Cullman, Alabama

Health Expo Hosted by Good Samaritan Health Clinic

Meaghanne Thompson, a diabetes expert, shared valuable insights on living with diabetes during a health expo hosted by the Good Samaritan Health Clinic in Cullman, Alabama. On June 28, the clinic featured staff from the Alabama Cooperative Extension System who provided patients with information on nutrition, diabetes management, and simple home fitness routines.

During the expo, Della Bramley demonstrated proper food portions and meal sizes while guests were able to sample healthy snacks. Shanetria Orr led guests through fun home exercises. Patients also took home door prizes such as resistance band sets for exercise and bags of fresh produce grown by Master Gardener Brad Mitchell through the Grow More Give More program.

As the clinic prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary, executive director Jolanda Hutson expressed plans for more events like this one in the future to promote wellness and prevention among patients and the community. The community is invited to attend one of the Open House events scheduled for August to learn more about the clinic’s services, impact, and future plans.

Looking ahead to the future, Good Samaritan Health Clinic is planning to build a new, expanded facility on Veterans Drive in 2025. The new location will have a larger waiting room to accommodate after-hours patient education classes and events.
