T20 World Cup: Teams battle to reach the semifinals | Latest Cricket Updates

South Africa and England secured their spots in the T20 World Cup semifinals after defeating hosts West Indies and defending champions England, respectively.

In Group 1, India is currently leading with 4 points and has a strong chance of qualifying for the semifinals. If they win against Australia, they will top the group as the number one team. Afghanistan, on the other hand, needs to beat Bangladesh to secure a spot in the semis with 2 points.

If India loses to Australia and Afghanistan wins against Bangladesh, both teams will finish with 4 points each. In such a case, net run rate (NRR) will be used to determine which team advances to the semifinals. Afghanistan needs to win by a significant margin for them to progress. India can miss out if both Australia and Afghanistan win by more than 120 runs in their final matches.

In Group 2, England has already qualified with 4 points after beating USA on Sunday. South Africa’s thrilling three-wicket win over West Indies using the DLS method on Monday secured their spot in the semifinals with 6 points. If they win their next match, they will top Group 1 and advance directly to the semifinals without any further qualification needed.
