TCL Units Accused of Infringing on Wi-LAN’s 4G Wireless Technology Patents in Lawsuit

In a lawsuit filed against three TCL Technology Group Corp. units, Wi-LAN Inc. has accused these companies of violating its patents for 4G wireless technology. According to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California, TCT Mobile (US) Inc., Huizhou TCL Mobile Communication Co., and TCL Mobile Communication (HK) Co. have been selling smartphones, tablets, and mobile hotspots that infringe on Wi-LAN’s patents.

The lawsuit alleges that these products are in violation of US Patent No. 8,259,688, which covers methods for “pre-allocated random access in wireless communication systems.” Wi-LAN is seeking damages and an injunction to stop the TCL units from continuing to sell products that allegedly infringe on their patents. The outcome of the lawsuit will determine whether TCL Technology Group Corp. will be held accountable for the alleged patent infringement.
