In the 2024 Men’s College World Series, the Tennessee Volunteers won their first national title in program history with a thrilling 6-5 victory over Texas A&M. This win was the culmination of an incredible season that saw the Vols achieve 60 victories.
In Game 3, Tennessee rallied back from a devastating 9-5 loss in Game 1 by winning Game 2 with a score of 4-1. The Vols built an early lead and held off the Aggies in a close contest. Dylan Dreiling’s standout performance earned him the Most Outstanding Player of the series as well as being the first player to hit a home run in all three games.
The Vols had a solid lead of 6-1 in Game 3, thanks to notable plays like Hunter Ensley’s impressive slide to avoid a tag. However, Texas A&M fought back with four runs in the final two innings, narrowing the gap to just one run. It was then that Aaron Combs stepped up and struck out Ted Burton, securing the national title for Tennessee.
