The Paris 2024 Olympics will host two road cycling events for men and women: the road race and time trial. The men’s race will cover a distance of 273km with 2,800m of ascent, while the women’s race will be 158km long with 1,700m of ascent. Both races will feature iconic Parisian landmarks such as the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower before heading into challenging terrain in the Chevreuse Valley.
The time trial is a solo effort where riders race against the clock over a flat 32.4km course. This event marks a historic moment as both men and women will compete on the same course and distance for the first time in Olympic history. The road cycling schedule at Paris 2024 includes the men’s and women’s time trials on 27th July, followed by the men’s road race on 3rd August and the women’s road race on 4th August.
Road cycling has been a part of the modern Olympic programme since its inception in 1896, highlighting its rich history and tradition in sport.
