The Brain Drain of French Muslims: An Analysis of the Impact of Religion, Racism and Identity Crisis on the French Election Campaign.

In a groundbreaking study, French Professor Olivier Esteves and two researchers have explored the impact of Islam, religion, and racism on the French election campaign. The research sheds light on the identity crisis facing France, with anti-Islamism and anti-Semitism becoming key issues in the campaign.

The study also delves into the brain drain of French Muslims to other countries due to discrimination, lack of opportunities, and societal prejudices. This loss of economic dynamism, cultural diversity, and democratic values in France is highlighted. The researchers interviewed over 1,000 people and 140 in-depth interviews to gain a deeper understanding of this phenomenon that silently affects French society for the first time.

The book generated widespread debate in respected newspapers worldwide such as The New York Times, The Times, and The Guardian. Through interviews with these minority elites, the researchers detail their upbringing, experiences as Muslims, reasons for leaving France, choice of destinations, settling and living abroad, perspective on France, and prospects of returning.

Based on this unprecedented sociological survey in France, it is clear that discrimination against French Muslims has led many to leave their homeland in search of social advancement abroad. These individuals find “the right to indifference” in their new homes where they can simply feel French without being stigmatized by their religion or name. However, this loss of talent and cultural exchange has had significant implications for both France’s economy and its society as a whole.
