The End of Business Astro: Amazon’s Focus Shifts to Consumer Robotics Solutions in the Home

Astro for Business, Amazon’s version of its Astro robot aimed at businesses, will be discontinued as of September 25. The company has decided to focus on bringing consumer robotics solutions to the home and is currently working on new features for the robot. This decision was made in order to provide a better experience for users and improve the overall product offerings.

Initially introduced in September 2021, Amazon Astro combined Alexa with a computer vision system to make life easier for users by performing tasks such as caring for dependents or pets. However, as time progressed, the company expanded its use in US companies for tasks such as monitoring warehouses or touring facilities.

At this point, all personal data on the devices will be deleted and subscriptions to the Astro Secure service will no longer be charged. Users who have purchased Astro for Business can expect a full refund and an additional $300 credit to their accounts on the platform. The robots will no longer be available for purchase starting on September 25.
