The Naylor Brothers: A Family Affair in MLB – When Home Runs Bring Siblings Closer Than Ever

On Wednesday, the Naylor brothers of the Cleveland Guardians celebrated National Siblings Day in a unique way by hitting home runs in the same inning. Despite being down 5-0 to the Chicago White Sox in the fourth inning, the Naylor boys managed to narrow the gap.

Josh Naylor kicked off the comeback with a mammoth 450-foot home run to right center field. Bo Naylor followed suit with a 438-foot blast to center field just a few batters later, bringing the score to 5-3. Josh’s homer was his third of the season, while Bo’s was his second.

This wasn’t the first time that brothers achieved this feat together for their team. The Naylors had done so before on July 14th, 2023 during a loss against Texas Rangers. They became only one of three pairs of brothers in MLB history to hit multi-run homers in the same inning for their respective teams.

According to Sarah Langs from MLB.com, Josh and Bo are now part of an exclusive group of six brother combinations who have hit home runs together since 1900. They join ranks with other legendary brother duos such as Babe and Bobby Ruth, and Cal and Earl Ripken Jr., among others.

Their contribution didn’t end there; after Josh hit a double that tied things up at 6-6 in bottom of 10th, Bo sealed their victory with a walk-off single that helped them overcome a five-run deficit and defeat Chicago White Sox by 7-6 final scoreline.

Bo expressed his gratitude for sharing these special moments with his brother while playing on MLB field together which added an extra layer of excitement and pride to their achievements as siblings.”
