The Top High School Senior Athletes of the Spring Sports Season: A Recognition Feature

Nominations are now being accepted for the top senior spring sports athlete in the Grand Rapids area

In the final weeks of the high school sports season, we turn our attention to the seniors who have been standout performers in their respective sports. To recognize these elite athletes, we are launching a new feature that will highlight the top local performers in each grade. The first installment of this feature will be released on Tuesday, May 7, featuring the area’s top spring sports seniors.

This group includes future Division-I college athletes like GR Catholic Central lacrosse midfielder Claire Marosi (Northwestern), East Grand Rapids lacrosse attacker Vivian LaMange (Robert Morris), and Hudsonville centerfielder Megan Beemer (Michigan). Other notable seniors to watch are Byron Center catcher Sophie Holverstott (Michigan State), Coopersville soccer midfielder Rachael Wright (Michigan State), Forest Hills Northern soccer forward Auden Stauffer (Central Michigan), Ottawa Hills distance runner Selma Anderson (Syracuse), and many more.

To ensure that no deserving athlete is overlooked, readers can submit nominations, player stats, and accolades to Patrick Nothaft at pnothaft@mlive.com throughout the season. We have already highlighted winners like Allendale girls track sprinter Kennadi Galy and Holland Christian baseball shortstop Caden VanHuis in our previous spotlight feature.

Stay tuned for upcoming stories on the best junior, sophomore, and freshman athletes in the weeks to come as we continue to shine a light on the standout performers of this high school sports season.
