Last month, a man from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England was arrested for publicly carrying a replica of Link’s Master Sword from the video game “The Legend of Zelda” with a real blade. Anthony Bray had bought the replica sword online intending to use it as a stress reliever to keep his hands busy and had no intention of using it as a weapon. However, carrying a blade in public was against U.K. law and he was sentenced to four months in prison and fined £154 (around €180) after officers spotted him walking down the street with the sword on June 8.
Bray explained to officers that he had no idea that it was illegal to carry a blade in public, but Warwickshire Police Sergeant emphasized that Bray could have avoided the situation by being more aware and avoiding walking down the street with the sword in plain sight. The incident highlights the importance of understanding and adhering to the laws regarding bladed articles in public spaces. It serves as a reminder that even seemingly harmless items can have serious consequences if not handled responsibly.
