The World’s Biggest Fish Fry: Feeding Thousands with Catfish, Fries and Hush Puppies in Paris, Tennessee

The World’s Largest Fish Fry makes a triumphant return, providing meals for thousands of attendees

The 71st annual World’s Biggest Fish Fry is happening in Paris, Tennessee from April 20 to 27. The Fish Tent, the star attraction of the event, opened on April 24 and offers a variety of dishes including catfish, fries, coleslaw, beans, and hush puppies for a $20 entry fee.

Organizer Josh ‘Smokey’ Taylor describes the Fish Fry as a community-wide event that brings people from all over West Tennessee together. To accommodate the thousands of visitors who come to the Fish Tent each year, a large amount of food is required. The Fish Tent has 12 thousand pounds of fish, 3 to 4 thousand pounds of fries and handmade hush puppies made with a significant amount of flour available.

With so much food on offer, they can feed approximately 320 people every hour. The event will continue until Saturday, April 27 with operating hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Taylor reassures visitors that as long as they have fish available and people are in line, they will continue serving.

On Friday morning at 10 a.m., there will be a large ‘Fish Fry Parade’ starting on East Wood Street. Anyone interested in experiencing the World’s Biggest Fish Fry still has time to join in on the festivities.
