The 2024 NBA Draft is just a week away and the final list of players invited to the green room has been revealed. According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, top prospects such as French big man Alex Sarr, Kentucky’s Reed Sheppard, and UConn’s Donovan Clingan will be present. Green room invitations are reserved for the best of the best each year, with NBA executives voting on the top 25 players they believe will go early in the draft. Historically, most invitees are selected in the first round, with 24 out of 25 last season hearing their names called in the opening round. The only exception was Rayan Rupert, chosen 43rd overall by the Portland Trail Blazers.
Despite being invited to the green room, some players choose to decline and watch the draft from home. Purdue’s Zach Edey, a two-time Naismith Player of the Year winner, opted not to attend and will instead be watching with his family. Despite this decision, Edey is still projected to be a first-round pick in the draft.
